The HC reminds me of the multi-stake youth dances here in Utah
At the last one I volunteered to help chaperone, all the doors to the building are locked except one. Chairs were lined up to funnel kids in past the people past the inspectors. There were four lines for kids with two chaperones at each to make sure they had proper dress. They were checking every hemline on girls, having them kneel down to see if it came to their knees. Boys without collared shirts and wearing jeans were being sent home.

The whole thing seemed more focused on who to keep out than who to let in.

I get that modesty is important but we're kind of missing the point of the activity. Where do you think those kids who you sent home went?

Most of the kids in my Ward are excited to go to these when they turn 14 but by the time they are 15 or 16 they never go again.

I get that BYU is a special place, but I also think relaxing the HC will not turn it into ASU.
