As a church we focus so much on conforming that we make people feel uncomfortable and they feel unwelcome.

Culturally the church really has an issue with this to the detriment of all involved.

I had a friend who's wife was just baptized tell me that the Relief Society president told her she needed to nurse her baby in the bathroom and not in the Foyer (under a cover even). As a courteous they put a "cold hard chair" (her words not mine) in there for her. She told me she never felt more humiliated in her life.
