I think the fiasco of the Mtn. channel was still fresh in their minds
If memory serves correctly, there was no TV deal at the time (B12 was up for negotiation), no promise of Sunday play being honored, and the top schools looking very much like they were packing their bags like a modern day "grapes of wrath". The other decent teams that would have been left were already talking about B10, Big Least, or other conferences to jump to (and those conferences, maybe not B10, would have taken them). While it may seem so clear now, think about the absolute explosion that would have happened had BYU jumped to the B12, top teams leave, no sweet tv deal (how good of a deal could the leftovers of the B12 get?? probably not ANY better than the MWC got...), and a membership in a conference that could fold at any minute. TH and Co would have gotten pink slips.

Also, if that had happened, I'm not so sure BYU could have just jumped to Indy in the fashion we did. Maybe we could have, but the damage to the school and program would have been huge and us fans would have wanted blood. I'm not saying TH and all were just looking out for their own skin, but seeing what was a very plausible scenario, I can fully understand the decisions they made.

Lastly, had we won out this year or made the BCS any other year post-Indy, I think the current volume of displeasure would be little to insignificant. Winning cures all and we just need to WIN!!

I agree there are problems in the program and I'm as worried about it as anyone, but the problems, IMHO, aren't that we are Indy. The problem is that we are not winning and it seems we have a coach who no longer seems capble of turning this around.
