I am really sorry it worked out this way for her. It's hard to understand how a 4.0 student with an endorsement doesn't get in but you hear these kind of stories every year. If you have any weakness at this point (ACT) that seems to be enough to keep a kid out. It's too bad they can't measure dedication and "fandom" because it sounds like your daughter is indeed a fanatic of BYU, and I'm sure there are BYU students who are not.

BYU offers such a compelling package that on one hand it's a great blessing for the Church and its members. On the other hand it seems to narrow the options for many...there are many I know who only intent to go to BYU and consider every other possibility a backup. It's quite possible that these kids (and your daughter) will also have their own unique experience that ends up being a blessing to them...although when you go to UVU you place yourself in a position of being so close yet so far away. I always wonder if it would be better to just get away from Provo to another place instead but I guess that's for each kid/parents to decide.

Anyway, good luck to her. Nobody can take away her 4.0 and she will be fine...even if it doesn't seem that way today.
