long time, including a ton of conference championships, a national championship, and a Cotton Bowl win? BYU was the weak-conference darling long before BSU came onto the scene. In fact, it was the MWC media deal that gave BSU a much better chance to be seen on ESPN due to their association with the WAC while BYU was playing in obscurity on the Mountain (or whatever that network was called). So, BYU has been there, done that, and it still doesn't earn you a spot at the table. BYU will have to kick the door down through winning a bunch of games with real big-boy schedules. If BYU fails to win regularly with these P5-level schedules, then we won't make much progress towards respect/increased fan support. On the other hand, if we can put together semi-regular top-25 seasons with these upcoming schedules, fan support will be bigger than ever, in my opinion. We'll also earn a better media deal from ESPN with these improved home schedules (much better inventory of games) for our next contract. Basically, it's upward and onward for BYU. No retreat!!
