Maybe that's why the spirit of the law isn't as alarming to me. For athletics they should make the students observe the Sabbath on the Saturdays that they have Sunday games.

As for the members, that's a different story. Don't watch if that's not your thing. If watching as a family brings you closer then do that... I'm pretty sure most people watch sporting events on Sunday anyway so it might as well be watching the Lord's university play.
