When I was a financial clerk about 15 years ago we used to call church headquarters to report deposit totals. I'm sure this could have waited until Monday. Tithing is still counted on Sunday requiring three people per unit to "work".

It's not so much Sunday as it is the Sabbath. In Israel the Sabbath is Fri/Sat.
