Watts was also at BYU for much longer. 22 seasons I believe.
And it was an era where you didn't play 35 games, including a bunch of UC-Santa Barbaras.
I love Rose, I love Watts. But there were some differences.
Watts was a huge name. He was President of the NABC, and Chair of the U.S. Basketball Olympic Committee in 1976. Rose is, IMO, clearly top 2 right now. But you can certainly make an argument for Watts as #1, and given the higher highs, I think you still have to give it to Watts. He's the guy that established BYU basketball as a national program. Both the Smith Field House AND the Marriott were constructed under his watch. Pretty impressive Pioneer for BYU Basketball.
