everyone is throwing around here. He doesn't "need" to go. Sometimes the little things in marriage are just more important. Just as this little thing would be very important for his job so could his showing his wife that she is first and foremost be more important in the long run. The little things make all the difference. Those who responded he should go seem to understand this, but it also works for the marriage.

I would still try to convince her to go with you. And I would make the phone call to the baby sitter to make it happen. But if push comes to shove, I chose the wife over the job every time.
