It wasn't Riley's job to take himself out; that's the coaches' job.

I love Riley. He wasn't overly talented, but the kid just won games for us when we had very little talent to surround him. Futhermore, the games we lost playing him would have been far worse losses had Heaps or Munns or Lark played because with the terrible O line we had those years inescapability meant certain death.
