Oh yes they did

His injury wasn't a big secret.

They were trying to manage the pain so he could play. It didn't work out as well as they had hoped. Kudos for him that he tried to play through the pain. That's exactly the mentality a good football player should have. Boos to the coaches who should have sat him down but didn't.
