I live just south of Palo Alto (we rent). I have friends that

have bought a house recently that are a little older than me (I'm 30). One was in south San Jose over a year ago and another in Half Moon Bay. I don't know exactly what their finances are, but I know I'm not holding out hope of buying a house anytime soon here.

Have you looked at Trulia or Zillow yet to get an idea of prices in the areas you're looking at and if it is affordable to buy?
