Not exactly the same as NY6 but dang close.

Bowl games are generally more exciting than regular season. It's ideally a team's peak performance and chance to seal the season and get some hardware for it. Those NY6 champ stickers, badges, etc. are extra recruiting material (unless you're Jamaal and you don't like bling). You get to play better competition and often in better locations to roadtrip to. For us public schools, the $$$ makes a gigantic difference as well.
