My problem is that it is always a season of "almost" or "what could have been."
This year is turning out no different.

It's exactly the same thing. every. year. Good, but not great. Almost. There's always next year. It's the first week in October and we're already having visions of some boring bowl game we'll probably lose and next year's season.

I recognize the risk in hiring a new coach, particularly at BYU. For that reason, I'm not necessarily calling for Bronco's head today.

But an equally legitimate question is, what do we do? Continue the status quo? 11 years is a long time and most of the issues present today were present 11 years ago, or at least 5 years ago. And I don't think there's any dispute that excitement and support of the program is waning, particularly among the youth. It is also eroding support at the higher levels. I personally know numerous legacy donors who don't like Bronco and that opinion is not uncommon. Just this past Sunday one legacy donor (he donates more than $15,000 per year to the program and has prime, lower level season tickets at about the 50-yard line, West stands) told me he is done donating until Bronco is gone.

Simply saying, "we can't do any better" doesn't solve anything. I also don't personally believe that. But what is to be done, then?
