On a bit of a lengthy side bar... even with all the similarities you listed between Bronco and Coach Edwards... I can with a clear conscious and a plethora of historical facts defend Coach Edwards and attack Bronco when it comes to how they have conducted themselves in public.

While coaching at BYU, Edwards was a consummate professional... I didn't know jack about his opinions off X&O topics that would only cloud up doing his job as a head coach of our football team...and he talked to the (at times quite stupid) fans waaaay more often than Bronco.. and might I add, keeping Bronco away from fans as much as possible was/is a very wise move by somebody over there.

No...Bronco is nothing like Edwards in that regard... as Bronco seemingly goes out of his way to consistently drum up congestion and noise that has created needless distractions

IMO, lack of PR skills, not lack of wins, will be the reason Bronco will never be the head coach of a P5 school...and NEVER be a Hall of Fame Coach, and never have more than a big thumbs up plaque on the BYU Athletic Dept wall long after he's gone....

Of course, at his best self, which is thankfully more often than not, he's been awesome.... he's said/done lots of great and appropriate things... and as a life-long BYU first fan I am grateful when he does represent my school in a positive way

Which makes his loose cannon comments and actions all the more frustrating...

At his worst self, he is a thin-skinned PR risk, that comes across as pompous and pious and seems to enjoy goading fans, recruits, media, and donors. Trust me, this practice would absolutely not be tolerated at P5 football first schools.

At Edwards worst self... I think some fans in Laramie were once offended about a comment he made about living logistics... at his best self... well... Edwards was always showing his best self....

Which is why, if you follow BYU as much as you indicate above, I should not have to list the myriad of comments and actions that absolutely separate Edwards from Bronco, Legend from Liability.... PR Master from PR Mook...

In fact, to feebly attempt to place Bronco on the same page as an icon like Coach Edwards feels like, to use your metaphor, one is throwing stones on Coach Edwards impeccable legacy and forgetting that what made Hall-of-Fame Edwards so unique and important to BYU now and in the future went far beyond wins and losses...
