When I served in Mexico, the saints loved BYU and wanted to talk about the Lord's school. While they did not understand football, they wanted BYU to do well and were excited about their success.
Frankly, BYU should host some baseball and soccer camps in Mexico, the Carribean, Central and South America. Imagine basketball camps in Brazil and Argentina. We would easily attract excellent players and gain broader notoriety within those communities. There are a lot of untapped resources among church members outside of the US. We would also be able to attract non-LDS athletes from those countries.
That is why Cougar Network is so important. South American loves sports and watches a lot of TV.
