There are several things that are outside of BYU's control that may leave BYU out of a P5 conference.

Still, I hope that Holmoe, Worthen, and others in a position of influence are doing EVERYTHING they can possibly do to get BYU into the Big 12. I hope they are meeting with the Presidents and ADs of all Big 12 schools. I hope they are heavily promoting the athletic and financial strength of BYU. In short, I hope they are playing the correct political and data-driven game that is necessary to get BYU into the Big 12. This is an opportunity that may not come again for decades, or maybe never. The critical importance of this cannot be underestimated. In very real terms, the long-term future of BYU as a major player in the revenue sports depends on BYU getting into a P5 conference.

I hope BYU is putting together the sales pitch of their lives. If they are, then come what may. If they aren't, then they are not doing their jobs.

My very strong belief is that Holmoe and Worthen are doing their jobs. Let's put our trust in them and cross our fingers that this whole process plays out in BYU's favor. We are fortunate to be associated with such a fine institution led by smart, good people who love BYU and are seeking the best interests of the school.
