Even if he DID have an axe to grind, why would you assume it was because....
somebody had offended him? Why is that always the first (or second) thing people assume when somebody expresses disapproval of a church policy or action?

I find that most people who have an axe to grind with the church do so for legitimate reasons. Most people just don't get offended that easily. It drives me crazy when people attempt to trivialize other people's legitimate concerns and objections by implying somebody must have offended them.
