For a few reasons:
1.) I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed.
2.) if you compared year 1 detmer vs Anae last year, I think detmer may have a higher ceiling but anae has several years on detmer. Expecting the same or better than last year of Anae is asking a lot. Experience is invaluable.
But to your point, the players are great this year. I think our players will cover up and make up for some of the first-year-learning-curve mistakes. We will see. Our offensive players will be great.
