Though it isn't a rule, admissions boards like to have a diverse student population, meaning your chances of getting in increase if you have a degree from somewhere else. If the student wants the BYU experience (and going to a school with way more options for finding a mate) and high level athletics, I will tell them to go this route every time. (though getting into an Stanford MBA will have its own unique challenges)
