For me it was a no-brainer. Scholarships didn't change that.

My cousin (if it matters, a non-member) was a Nat'l merit scholar and had the full ride at Stanford which was close to home. Followed his girlfriend to BYU (who could have, but didn't go to Stanford). Both were Benson Scholarship recipients. Loved the campus and his girlfriend more than Stanford (his dream school). Happily resides near BYU with his wife. They married in the Temple about their Junior year. Not a single regret from either that I have ever heard mentioned.
