Yes they do. How are you doubting this?! Ty has said this about the Offense from
day 1. The West Coast offense is a timing and route running offense. The routes that the WR runs are based on what the CBs or Safeties show.

The WRs and QBs are supposed to read the defense and be on the same page.

A simplistic example would be that our Slot WR has a LB covering him. The LB is lined up on the hash to the WRs right side. To our WRs left side is another WR who has a CB playing man and there are two safties deep.

The slot WRs basic route is to be a short 5-7 yard cut. Now comes the time to read the defense. The Slot WR knows his other WR to the left is running a 10-15 yard route on the sideline, and with the LB to the right the Slot WR makes his read that the will go out 5-7 yards and make a hard cut to the left.

As the QB reads the field, he now has to make a read on all the WRs not just the slot. The QB has to basically come to the same conclusion as the WR does on reading the defense and knowing what to do. What makes this difficult, again, is that the QB does this for 3-5 WRs each passing play. So if the Slot WR reads the defense and makes a decision to go left, but the QB sees something different and throw right, then we see some of the issues we are seeing with Taysom and our WRs.

They are not both making the same reads. We aren't seeing this as much, most likely because it adds more complexity to something we are already struggling with, but these throws are generally going to be timing routes. The QB should be taking his three step drop and throwing the ball to a spot where the WR will end up. Again, this is based on pre-snap reads by the QB and WR and they obviously need to be on the same page.

Very complex my friend. The WRs have multiple options on each play and the QB and WRs need to be on the same page to work effectively.
