tier jobs... I know because I used to work at one ... a senior partner once said to a group of 300 of us... "I realize you all applied for jobs with investment banks and weren't hired.... we're ok with that, we're happy you're here."
Sadly, it was the 1st time I'd ever realized that a job at PwC was a 2nd tier job. I started updating my resume the next day.
It's this mentality - the... jobs at accounting firms are good enough mentality... that I'd love to eliminate from Provo. The reason the Big 4 love BYU more than students from better schools is that the grads from the best schools don't accept jobs from the big 4. Why would they? Those students have better options.
I'd love more doors opened for BYU students. So many BYU students have better offers.... I wish the professional sacrifice to attend BYU for them were smaller. If BYU were to add 5,000 more students it would only make the sacrifice greater for the most elite BYU students. For many, the sacrifice would be too great and they'd matriculate elsewhere. Who could blame them?
I'd love for BYU to be THE place to go for elite Mormon thinkers.
And thanks for going to BYU's MBA program. I know many great business leaders who were certainly qualified to go to more prestigious programs but chose BYU. I appreciate the sacrifice.
