I see some solid kids not get accepted around here. I also think that some of the best people to have at your company are not always 4.0 students. We hire really smart people with so-so grades all the time. We make them answer questions that prove their intelligence, but I don't think grades or even test scores are the end all of what makes a great team member (an my company requires intellectual horse power).
Plus some of the best entrepreneurs are your people like me who were more like 3.5 GPAs in high school.
