He made so much improvement the year following his mission, there is little doubt that he would have been a better and higher ranked player going into next year's draft.
Will he be "better prepared" for the NBA by leaving? Let's say you're right and he improves his game more from Europe or the G-League -- he STILL loses both money and opportunity because players who are drafted get more of both, because NBA teams invest substantially more in the players they acquired through the draft.
In other words, Mika just potentially gave up millions in one year to potentially get a few hundred thousand (tops) this year. If he could have been patient and listened to the NBA teams he worked out for, he could have tripled or quadrupled his money, or even more with just one more year at BYU.
Bad decision and bad math, man. I feel bad for the guy. He got some very bad advice somewhere, and clearly bought it.
