Intriguing to think how much leverage we have now with our TV contract renewal
on the horizon. Back in 2011 when we first signed, what leverage did we have? We needed a life line for Independence and ESPN gave us that. We were desperate and they knew we were desperate and hence we got paid accordingly.

Today, we know ESPN is getting financial pressure to cut costs, but if we are only getting paid around 4.5 million a year, we are really a screamin bargain for live content. Would think we have more leverage than what we had in 2011 with ESPN and hopefully other TV providers.

The other interesting part is with the market seeming to turn to live streaming and subscribers, BYU has to be better positioned than a lot of other schools including a good chunk of P5 schools.

This tweet still intrigues me.
