extent still do. But my opinion is shifting. So what if no one cares about the mountain west or AAC champ? What does that have to do with anything? No one cares about an independent either. Regardless of whether byu is independent or in a conference we are only relevant when winning. To get into the playoff we'd have to go undefeated either way. But in a conference we could also get an NY6 bowl. And in a conference at least we'd have some other things to play for during a tough season...rivals to beat etc.

I'm not sure independence is our problem or anything like that. Just kind of jumping in as far as the argument about no one caring about g5 conference champs etc. I'm not even convinced going to the AAC would be better...just thinking out loud here about some of the positives going to a conference would bring(though going back to mountain west would be dumb IMO. AAC would be only option)
