Poor decision according to your opinion because your some "Solar Eclipse expert" since they occur all of the time.
And no it wasn't a 30 minute drive.
I had next door neighbors outside with me that experienced the 100% totality in 2017. They didn't think it was a big enough deal to drive the 2 hours to go see another 100% totality. So.. yeah I'm sticking with my opinion that I didn't miss out on too much.
I got outside saw what it was like and I stick by what I said.

I thought the same until I saw 2017. It was pretty incredible. Not just the eclipse, but to see everything around us get
