Here's the funny thing about BYU to the Big-12
Let's say OU stays and BYU is invited and accepts.
A big chunk of the Y fans who were mocking and deriding Utes for wanting to dial down the rivalry game would begin seeing the wisdom in de-emphasizing that game. Your road to the BCS would go through Austin and Norman, not Salt Lake.
Let's say Utah-BYU was played in the last week in Sept, with you traveling to Norman the next week. Can you see how getting wound up to have a physical struggle against Utah might not be so smart? Also, given BYU's interest in playing in different areas of the nation for exposure reasons, it might be more desirable to play in the East or reward your fans in California with a game vs Fresno in the preseason.
The Big-12 really becomes the primary focus...as it should be.
