That is true. But in-state rivarlies
often take a back-seat to conference rivalries given the chance -- because something real is on the line there.

BYU and Utah have good reason to continue to play and I think the local fans will care.

But to BYU fans not living in the area (which is a growing number) the Utah game will be next to meaningless.

And scheduling it will rob the university of a chance at "exposure" out of market -- opportunities which will be limited inside the B-12. I'm just not sure the game will be a priority going forward.

But it might be.
