What matters more, the preseason polls or the end of season polls? We all know the answer to that. BYU ended ranked, and Utah didn't get a single vote in any poll I saw. Sure, you beat us (we beat ourselves a little that game too). But that doesn't matter because after the dust settled, BYU was better respected than Utah (votes don't lie).
Utah realized after one season that it would have to pull all plugs in order for it's football team to thrive in the PAC12 including scuttle it's game with it's century-old rivalry partner in BYU. The sad part is... it's still not going to work. Utah's glory days are over. Utah doesn't have the money or recruiting power needed to compete with the massive population centers along the west coast enough to ever dominate the conference. Utah will be OK for a while but will eventually fade into mediocrity. Wisely, Utah's in hot water which is why they are so guarded right now. They know full well that it will only take a few misteps and it's all over.
