Utah is new and not even a full equity member. Utah did push back and tried to have the game as the last game of the year. The PAC wants to manufacture a rival in conference, and said no.
That's all. If BYU actually made it to the Big 12 and the Big 12 did the same thing, BYU wouldn't even have pushed back.
Botton line is Utah doesn't feel compelled to play BYU, does not need the game and chose not to play it. That's the long and the short of it. Utah has moved on. I think you all should as well. When we play it in the future, it will be fun. I hope BYU is better then.
I am really surprised that so many BYU fans want to play it. My guess is that most really are just upset because Utah is the one who ended it.
By the way, there have been several times in history when BYU and Utah have had small breaks. The rivalry has not been every year and not by a long shot. The series is 55-34-4 in favor of Utah(21 more rivalry wins). That is only 93 games played.
