But that isn't the purported reason for not scheduling BYU.
The ewets aren't dropping the series to strengthen the schedule. Hill and Whittingham are saying, we already play a tough enough schedule, we need to schedule some gimmees in those open non-conference slots. And BYU isn't a gimmee. We might lose and jeopardize bowl eligibility, have the conference take a hit by losing to a non-worthy foe, etc.
