The guys making the decisions at USU have to try and fund the athletics
program. The fans at USU only have to worry about watching the games. If BYU is offering a lot more money than they can make from a home game, it's pretty hard to ignore. Even the lowest guess I've heard for how much BYU paid them for the extra game in Provo represents almost 5% of their entire athletics budget for the year.
