recruited and the way one is treated when one arrives are often very different. The least enjoyable job I ever had involved the best recruiting process I have ever seen. I was flown to their HQ, met at the airport by a limosine with a driver that had one of those cards with my name on it. The limo took me to a hotel room was literally bigger than the house I lived in at the time. They took me to super expensive restaurants. The matched me up with people who appeared very much to be down to earth and talked a lot about family and family time.
When I got the job, they were the least family friendly organization I had ever worked for and the least down to earth. I was absolutely miserable.
I'm not saying the U is a bad place. I'm just saying that being "wined and dined" is very often misleading and very often not at all like what reality is when you get there.
