The total casualty amount including wounded is about equal

Both on other sides of 100,000. (Comparing overall)

The Army Air Force was significantly larger (a multiple)

My point is and has been it’s not useful to make these numbers comparisons.

It’s an act of one-upping to say “Iwo Jima... well the Army Air Force...”

The Marines also never invaded mainland Japan on a full scale basis where the heaviest defenses would have been. The pacific theater had different struggles.
