most kids i know don't have an automatic allegiance to their parents' college
When my kids were young I had them indoctrinated pretty well about BYU and BYU football. But that didn't last when they got into high school. Kids like winners and the reality is that if a kid grew up in SLC over the last 10 years, their perception of BYU relative to UU has changed drastically. I base this on who is winning the rivalry game, who has gone to BCS games, who is now a member of the PAC12 and contending for the Rose Bowl / playoffs.

My son, a junior, tries to like what I like but he sees nothing about BYU football that draws him, especially when the UU is up the road and kicking rear.
