there's nothing about individual conferences that make them want to add BYU as a marginal new member. but if we're starting from the ground up, there's lots of good reasons why BYU would be in. It's like if you're remodeling your house, maybe you wouldn't want a second walk-in closet in your master bedroom, but if you're building from the ground up, it makes a lot of sense.
I think BYU falls into that category; hard to justify adding on to the existing structure, but a good add when building from the ground up. But I'm also open-eyed about the fact that if they don't for any reason or no reason or bad reasons, there's nothing BYU can do about it from an antitrust perspective.
