The choir daughter was also a good pianist, so she was part of that choir for her piano abilities and then was gradually incorporated into the singing portion of the choir.
Son was last one or two cut from basketball. He was asked to help as team manager. His coach did let him suit up and start their final game as a senior. Quite an acknowledgement from the coach for my son's work with the team and his ability to not be a huge liability on the court.
Other daughter was afraid to go places and have to answer people's question about "did you make the team?" I helped her know that she tried her best and did something that the huge majority of those who asked wouldn't or couldn't have even tried. There was no shame for trying for hard things and not completely achieving it.
Good luck to your daughter. Have her work hard, see if she can help out the team in another role for now.
