He took a job at Kentucky. That’s one of the top 5 best college basketball jobs out there. Plus, he played there. This is his holy grail. Calipari was there for fifteen years. If Pope passed and the new coach was here another fifteen years, Pope would never have the chance. You can’t just wait until the next time Kentucky offered.
He had the chance for his dream and he took it. He’s getting paid way more money. Like, life changing money. $30 million guaranteed. That’s incredible. Nobody can fault him for that at all.
And of course players are going to leave. That’s what happens when coaches leave.
