Are people who post this so naive that they don't understand how jobs work??
Everyone, in every profession, should always be looking for ways to build themselves and their careers. This is how you take care of your family and be valuable member of society. Career paths can take all forms and no one can judge another person for their career choices as only they know what is best for them, their career and their family. BYU offered Pope great opportunities so he came. Staying would also provide opportunities for him, but if he feels that his career is best suited by taking a job at the University of Kentucky or at the College of DuPage, then he needs to do it. Just like we all need to take opportunities as they come. While BYU is a more loyal employer than many, he can just as quickly lose his job by staying as grow his career by going. He doesn't own anyone anything. As for telling coaches and certain players he'd love to have them come, this is also how jobs work. I have gotten some great gigs because someone I worked with got a great opportunity, saw an opportunity for me as well and offered me a job. BYU will move on, Pope will move on and hopefully both will be the better for it. It makes no sense to try and retain someone who sees a better opportunity elsewhere. It is best for both parties to full heartedly with each other the best of luck and then move forward. So glad to see so many fellow fans call out these types of posts. Shows that overall we do have a strong and healthy fanbase.

Best of luck Coach Pope! Would have loved to see you stay longer, but best wishes as you move forward!
