I'm always amazed at the disparity between median home prices and median incomes

It leads me to the same question you posed.

I live in an area near the water. I'm also always amazed at how many people can afford multiple waterfront homes, $1M+ sailboats, etc... We do pretty well but not THAT well. Apparently the 1% congregate around the water.
