How long ago did you live in Tijuana?

I was stationed in Long Beach for the military. The revolution was super popular for college students and military on the weekends. A real party fun destination. We always used to go to TJ on the weekends. I ran into a guy skiing about 5 years ago who spent a lot of time down there and said it wasn't like that anymore because the crime was so bad (like it wasn't before). Just wondering if you can confirm.
