what ever happened to the millions the PGA raised for youth golf?
Remember the commercials with Tiger watching kids hit balls and the PGA touting how much money they raised for youth golf programs? About 12 years ago, I called around asking about group lessons for kids or discount green fees for kids, summer programs, anything. I called at least twenty courses and they had very little to offer. "We used to have youth classes but not enough interest... We used to have after-school twilight rates for youth but got rid of that this year."

One call was hilarious. Turned out this guy is LDS and a world class teaching pro (Haddow would definitely know him):

"Oh yeah, I am the pro here and am excellent with kids. I use video and guarantee they will be hitting 10 yards further after the first week."

"That sounds great. What are your rates?"

"Well, I charge $350 per hour. How many kids did you say you wanted to take lessons? Three? I would do all three for $400 an hour."

"Whoa! No way can I do that. I'm sure you are worth it, but I'm not looking for my kids to make the PGA tour."
