I'm missing why you're surprised
He gets to go to one of the best universities in the world to be coached by one of the best coaches in the world. He gets to play with the best recruits in the world, against the best competition in college basketball. Even if he was the biggest star ever at BYU, it wouldn't matter because our bright spot this season is seen as a fluke by the rest of the college basketball world.
And honestly, being Jimmer hasn't really helped Jimmer in the NBA. I think "jimmermania" has really hurt his chance at an NBA career.
Do I wish Jackson would've come to BYU? Yes. Am I surprised that he didn't? Not at all.

Yeah, the NCAA wins have been so much better. Jabari and Frank both out of the tourney in the first weekend.

I think if you have NBA talent you'll get there no matter where you go. It has been proven countless times.
