We waited with our twins and the biggest reason was
We want them to hit the major benchmarks (esp. Driving) before all the kids in the grade.
In our minds, this gives them a better chance of being the ones other kids follow, rather than the ones that go along with the crowd.
Whether it turns out that way is yet to be seen.
