That's an excellent point and you're correct. This is the direction Kalani has
been moving. To basically over-offer and over-sign, and then trim the fat from the less talented scholarship players who won't have a chance to play above some of the other talent in the program.
It is a bit cutthroat, but 1) it's the fastest way to drastically upgrade the team's talent level and 2) scholarships are always renewed on a year-by-year basis and should never be understood to last for all four years of a student-athlete's education. It's completely legal and justifiable.
