So you are finally getting my point
Is it better for the old lions to creak along -- resting as often as they can -- winning a slam or two a year until they are 40 or retire when their bodies break down like players used to? I liked the way it was when age caught up with a tennis player and he faded and the next great player emerged. Federer and Nadal haven't faded at all yet and if they play 10-12 tournaments a year, they may not fade for years.

When Carlos Moya said last month Nadal could win five more French Opens, I laughed. Then I thought, yeah, if he played just the clay court season and a handful of other tournaments to stay sharp, he probably could. Again, I don't like that. I like following the younger players and watching them come up through the ranks. For the last 10 years, they have come up through the ranks and then gotten beaten down. The WTA has the exact opposite extreme. When Serena is bored, they have a new #1 every six months.
