My thoughts:

His words about the schedule difficulty - that it's competitive enough that if we "just" win them all and show well in the conference, we're in good shape - is lipstick on a pig. We can't be expected to win every game in OOC. We won't. Most teams slip up here and there. To schedule ourselves into a situation where we have zero margin for error is not OK.

The transfers make sense. I think it's clear that we can't point to any one thing that caused all the transfers. Some were the fault of the staff, but others were impatient kids or kids that weren't good fits for BYU based on expectations for BYU players (academics/HC/effort). I appreciated his honesty in admitting that it's complicated, and that they're acknowledging some fault in it. It gives me hope that some of these misses will be avoided down the road.

None of those excuses for the schedule make any sense at all. You have to start somewhere. Man up this year and go on the road. Skip the OOC tournament if you have to. Imagine four P5 teams on the road this year, and Utah at home. That would be awesome, especially because it would mean we'd have them coming to Provo down the road. Right now we have 7 home games, 3 neutral games, and 3 road games (UVU, USU, and Princeton). In actuality, our neutral games are usually a quasi-home game for BYU and will be this year, and 2 of our road games are in Utah. We have no leverage when it comes to scheduling good teams, and we obviously haven't for a while. So if you want to change the trend and have 4 P5 programs that are willing to play, you go there first. Take a lesson from BYU football on scheduling and make good opponents a priority, and the home games will come. To demand that they play in our place first is asinine IMO.
