pressure from donors and fans. Here's a quote from the Daily Herald
BYU's move to independence has shown our willingness to think outside the box and adapt to the changing landscape of college football. Kevin [Worthen] and I were talking about this and how creative thinking could be a huge advantage to us. After a few meetings and brainstorming sessions we realized we had a huge untapped resource at our disposal - BYU's fanbase. We have the best fanbase in the country. Our fans are more educated than the normal fan, they're spread across the country with connections spanning the globe. Why wouldn't we take advantage of them? The challenge was finding an efficient way to communicate with them. Thats when we realized CougarBoard was the answer to all our problems. CougarBoard is a central location where all of these fans are already sharing information on recruits, coaching prospects, and more. The consensus on that site was that we should hire Ty Detmer so that's what we did. We are working on technology to get the in-game comments from CougarBoard piped directly to the coaching staff tablets. There's a lot of good football analysis that takes place there and there's no reason we shouldn't utilize it.
